Recently a friend of mine just joined a new company, he was a bit confused and nervous and came to me asking how to quickly adapt to the new environment.
No matter how many years of work experience you have, when you first arrive at a new organization, you can look back on your past experiences to build on your strengths and avoid stepping on potholes.
I think the most critical things for newcomers to onboarding are the following:
1. Start by making good relationships and leaving a good impression. For example, bring some snacks to share with the group, which can quickly bring them closer together and integrate them into the team;
2. Work hard and take the initiative to find work. Just came to the task may not be much, ask the leadership need to help what, keep learning mentality;
3. Observe more and talk less. Keep your eyes and ears open, don't just take sides or express opinions, smile at everyone, understand the interactions and atmosphere among your colleagues, and be an attentive person;
4. Mapping the culture of the organization, including the invisible rules. For example, the boss's preferences, I did not care before, but later found that the leader of the patriotic style, to throw their own way is easy to be appreciated;
5. Dress appropriately;
6. Adjust your mindset and be prepared to meet all challenges.
Stay polite and be yourself, don't try to please because you can't pretend for long, it lasts longer to be real.
