Have you caught up with that super hot Korean suspense drama "Veep" recently? In the drama, Han Blessing's mom finds out during a maternity test that her fetus has a 99% chance of carrying the antisocial personality gene, and only a 1% chance of being a genius, but she insists on having the baby anyway.
Why did she make this choice? Was it the right or wrong decision?
I'm sure this mom was conflicted the moment she gave birth in the country.
It would rather seem a bit cruel to deny a child from coming into the world just because it might have certain problems. I think her psychological motivation for choosing to have it is actually quite complex.
First of all, it was her own flesh and blood after all, and she wanted the child to experience the beauty of life.
Many people in the world make choices not simply for the sake of right or wrong, but more out of emotion.
Although antisocial personalities may be detrimental to society in terms of probability, I feel that society should also embrace this diversity because antisocial personalities are somehow a result of the social environment as well, right?
Criticism is the only way to make progress, and how can society move forward if it panders to the rules of society?
Here's another interesting point: in the show Veep, the mom discovers that her child has an antisocial personality, which doesn't also imply that she might have similar tendencies herself? If you think about it from that perspective, her behavior of insisting on having the baby would instead be more in line with the logic of an antisocial personality, which would make sense for the show, right?
